Ontario Skilled Worker through Express Entry

One of the immigration subcategories of the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program is the Ontario Express Entry Stream, which aligns with the federal Express Entry system designed for skilled workers. The points system for Ontario’s Skilled Worker stream also follows the Express Entry model, and by accepting an Ontario provincial nomination, you can receive an extra 600 points.

Immigration applicants to Canada can obtain permanent residency through the Ontario Provincial Nominee Program only if they have an active profile in the Express Entry system and receive an invitation from Ontario to submit documents for selection by the province.

Subcategories of the Ontario Skilled Worker Program through Express Entry

The Ontario Skilled Worker Program through Express Entry, which is part of the Human Capital Category, includes three subcategories:

Human Capital Priorities Program

The Human Capital Priorities Stream includes applicants from the federal Skilled Worker and Canadian Experience programs.

French-Speaking Skilled Worker Program

The French-Speaking Skilled Worker program operates similarly to the Human Capital Priorities program. Applicants must be proficient in both English and French.

Skilled Trades Program

The Skilled Trades program includes individuals with work experience in qualified trades in the province of Ontario.

Eligibility for the Ontario Skilled Worker Program

Applicants who are applying through the Alberta Skilled Worker – Express Entry program must meet the following minimum requirements:

Human Capital Priorities	Having an active Express Entry profile &At least one year of full-time work experience & Bachelor's degree or higher & English or French language proficiency at CLB 7
French-speaking Skilled Worker	Having an active Express Entry profile & At least one year of full-time work experience & Bachelor's degree or higher& English language proficiency at CLB 6 and French at CLB 7
Skilled Trades Worker	Having an active Express Entry profile & At least one year of full-time work experience & Technical certificate or license (if required) & Residency in Ontario and a valid work permit & Bachelor's degree or higher & English or French language proficiency at CLB 5

For job immigration to Ontario through the Ontario Express Entry program, a job offer is not required.

Steps for Job Immigration to Ontario via Express Entry

Step One: Based on your conditions, choose one of the three subgroups of the Alberta Skilled Worker program through Express Entry and register in the ONe-key system.

Step Two: Enter the required information to complete your user account, upload the necessary documents, and submit your application.

Step Three: If your application is approved by the province, you will receive a nomination confirmation letter via email.

Step Four: Accept the received nomination in your Express Entry profile and gain 600 additional points.

Step Five: In the next Express Entry draw, you will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence in Canada, and you can submit the required documents for PR to the Immigration Department of Canada.
