Immigrating to Canada through the Prince Edward Island Express Entry

The Prince Edward Island Express Entry program (PEI PNP Express Entry)

Candidates who qualify to enter the federal Express Entry pool and are interested in living and working in Prince Edward Island (PEI), Canada can apply through the PEI Express Entry stream.

Express Entry in Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program

This stream has two pathways to permanent residency, depending on whether the candidate has a job offer from PEI or not.

PEI selects Express Entry candidates who have the skills identified as being in demand in the province’s labor market. A successful selection through the PEI Provincial Nominee Program greatly increases the chances of receiving an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for permanent residency in Canada through Express Entry. The PEI Provincial Nominee Program operates according to the EOI (Expression of Interest) system, meaning the candidate must have an active profile in the province’s EOI system.

Assessment of eligibility for federal economic programs

Creating a profile in the PEI EOI system

Successful profiles receive an invitation for permanent residence and have 60 days to submit their application to the province.

Applicants must provide their application along with all required original documentation.

Once a candidate receives a Provincial Nominee Certificate from PEI, they must apply for permanent residence through their Express Entry profile to PEI.

Candidates interested in applying to the PEI PNP Express Entry stream must first submit an EOI form, which is sent via the PEI PNP website for Express Entry. To use this form, candidates must have previously created an Express Entry profile and be in the IRCC’s candidate database.

Since the EOI form does not count as a formal application to the PEI PNP, there is no fee for this form. However, candidates who are invited to apply for provincial nomination and submit an application must pay an application fee of $300.

The PEI PNP does not guarantee that all Express Entry profiles will be reviewed or accepted. Successful candidates from Prince Edward Island receive a provincial certificate, which provides an additional 600 points in the CRS system and an ITA invitation for permanent residence in future draws from the federal Express Entry database.
