You must have a full-time job offer or a full-time job from an employer in Newfoundland. This job offer or position must be for a minimum of 2 years and fall under one of the TEER levels 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 as per the NOC job classifications in Canada.

The employer must be registered in this province and have been actively operating in this province for 2 consecutive years. If the job is in the Saint John area, the employer must have 2 full-time employees. If it is outside this area, at least one full-time employee must be available. If you have a stake in the company, it must not exceed 10%. The employer must also have a good work environment record and adhere to all relevant work regulations.

Steps for the Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker Program

Step One: Application for the Newfoundland and Labrador Skilled Worker

In the Newfoundland and Labrador skilled workforce program, you first need to create an account on the Newfoundland and Labrador Immigration website and then submit your application on this site. In this section, you must input your personal, educational, and work information and upload the required documents. Additionally, the province charges $250 for document review.

Step Two: Receive Provincial Nomination

The province will review your documents and information. The time frame set by this province for reviewing documents is 25 days. If the province determines that you meet the requirements for the Skilled Worker program, they will issue you a provincial nomination.

Step Three: Applying for Permanent Residency

After receiving the provincial nomination, you have 6 months to submit your application to the federal immigration office. You can apply in two ways:

You can submit your application online by creating a profile in the online permanent residency portal. In this profile, you need to upload scans of all your documents, pay the fees, and fill out the forms digitally within that profile.

Alternatively, you can prepare your documents on paper, pay the fees, and send them by mail. Then, the federal immigration office will take about 15 to 19 months to review your documents and information. During this review, your security and criminal history will also be checked. If approved, you will receive confirmation of your permanent residency.
