Why Priority Sectors and Designated Employers Matter
The RCIP is employer-driven, meaning that foreign nationals must secure a job offer to qualify.
The offer must come from a designated employer, i.e., a business approved by the community’s economic development organization.
Employers are only eligible for designation if they operate within the community’s identified priority sectors.
The job offer must also align with one of the priority occupations listed above.
Once these conditions are met and the job is endorsed by the community, the foreign national can apply directly to the federal government for permanent residency under the RCIP.
