Alberta Invites More Than 1,000 Candidates Through Four AAIP Draws

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) held four new immigration draws between May 1 and May 13, 2026, issuing invitations to candidates working in healthcare, technology, and rural community occupations.

A total of 1,051 candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for provincial nomination during these rounds.

With these latest selections, Alberta has now conducted 36 provincial immigration draws so far in 2026.

Streams Selected in the Latest AAIP Draws

The invitations were issued under the following AAIP pathways:

  • Rural Renewal Stream
  • Alberta Opportunity Stream
  • Alberta Express Entry Stream – Accelerated Tech Pathway
  • Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry

The Alberta Opportunity Stream received the highest number of invitations and represented the majority of invitations issued in May.

According to Alberta’s official immigration priorities for 2026, the province continues to focus heavily on healthcare occupations, technology workers, and candidates interested in settling in rural communities.

Previous Draws Under These Streams

Before these latest rounds, Alberta previously conducted draws under the same pathways in April:

  • April 13, 2026: Dedicated Health Care Pathway – Express Entry (62 invitations)
  • April 8, 2026: Accelerated Tech Pathway (146 invitations)
  • April 10, 2026: Alberta Opportunity Stream (447 invitations)
  • April 9, 2026: Rural Renewal Stream (74 invitations)

So far in 2026, Alberta has invited at least 6,269 candidates through the AAIP. Most invitations this year have been issued through the Alberta Opportunity Stream.

Alberta Nomination Allocation for 2026

As of May 14, Alberta had already used 2,191 nomination spots out of the 6,403 spaces allocated by the federal government for 2026.

This leaves 4,212 nomination spaces still available across Alberta immigration streams.

In addition to its regular allocation, Alberta also reserved some nomination capacity for practice-ready physicians and French-speaking applicants.

EOIs and Applications Currently in the System

Alberta also released updated information regarding the number of Expressions of Interest (EOIs) and applications currently under processing across its immigration pathways.

As of May 14, the province had 40,161 worker EOIs in its selection pool, representing a decrease compared to the previous update published on April 29.

The Alberta Opportunity Stream continued to hold the largest share of candidate profiles, with 25,571 EOIs in the pool and 446 applications awaiting a final decision.

The Priority Sector Draws and Initiatives category followed with 4,646 EOIs and 229 applications under review, while the Tourism and Hospitality Stream recorded 4,021 EOIs and 25 pending applications.

Meanwhile, the Accelerated Tech Pathway included 2,375 EOIs, alongside 122 applications still in processing. The Rural Renewal Stream had 2,055 EOIs and 197 pending applications, while the Dedicated Health Care Pathways reported 1,426 EOIs and 22 applications awaiting review.

The Law Enforcement Pathway remained one of the smallest categories, with 67 EOIs in the selection pool and fewer than 10 applications currently being processed.

Alberta also noted that entrepreneur immigration streams are managed separately from the worker EOI system and currently have 262 applications in processing.
